Release 2026-09-05

This page is part of the documentation for Orleans.Lattice 9.9.0 (release line 9.9), built 2026-10-04. It is also published as markdown, with every table and list, at 2026-09-05.md, and llms.txt lists every page.

Part of the changelog.

Coordinated family minor release - every published package outside the Explorer sub-family advances in lockstep to 9.6.0. The headline is the shard-root contention series, now bounded end to end: every leaf-chain walk that could hold a deliberately non-reentrant shard root for the length of a chain is now bounded by the work it does rather than by the output it collects, resumes by key rather than by leaf grain id so a leaf split or reclaimed between batches cannot silently truncate a sweep, and sits under a hard end-to-end stall ceiling for the prologue and descent phases a cooperative budget structurally cannot reach - with the handful of walks that must stay atomic now recording why at each site and warning when they hold a shard past a threshold. Alongside it: a broad hot-path allocation and hash-probe trimming pass across the view-maintainer drain, slot routing, reshard slot accounting, the tenancy merge and the CRDT delta combine; a set of delimiter-aliasing fixes that make the caller-identity, projection-version and secret-set signatures injective; a WAL materialiser pin store that no longer rewrites every co-routed leaf on each flush, now bucketed and observable in the saturation signal; and the documentation corpus is now published as a browsable website.

One package debuts in this line, entering at the family version 9.6.0: Orleans.Lattice.Storage.File, a durable local-disk write-ahead-log backend - an append-and-fsync log per shard with crash-safe reconciliation and background compaction that rewrites the log to reclaim trimmed space - intended for single-node and containerized deployments.

The Explorer sub-family remains deliberately held back at 9.4.0 / 9.4.1 and does not participate in this lockstep, for the same reason it was held back at 9.5.0: the console rewrite (#1790) removes public types from the published Orleans.Lattice.Explorer.Core and would require minting thirteen new plugin package ids, so the whole sub-family ships together in the next major instead. Its entries remain under ## Unreleased. Because no shipping package references an Explorer project, holding it back leaves no unresolvable dependency.

Three further companion packages remain not yet published to NuGet (build from source today): Orleans.Lattice.Vector, Orleans.Lattice.Api.Mcp.RepoContext, and Orleans.Lattice.Api.Mcp.RepoContext.Replication.
